QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ... Usually 14 to 21 business days. Quicker service is available; just let us know your deadline. We will edit out any clear or black footage from your film (as long as it is a foot or more in length). If you have dark film we can lighten it, usually with pleasing results. It is our policy to transfer all exposed footage including shaky camera work and out of focus film. We have found that our customers still enjoy their film even under these circumstances. Yes. We will combine your film onto 400' reels and then transfer it to VHS video tape. You can still project the 400' reels if you wish. We include (at no charge) background music. It is easy listening music, which is specially designed for home movies. If your original sound was recorded on film, we will transfer that sound onto video. No music will be recorded in places where you already have sound on film. When we receive your film, it is cleaned and repaired (if needed). The cleaning process lubricates your old dry film and helps keep it from breaking during transfer. We have transferred movies as far back as 1916 and usually have no problem with old film. We will be glad to rent you a projector. If you want to edit out footage, you may either: 1) have the film transferred and then edit on video at our studio (the easiest method). 2) You may physically edit the film by taking out the sections of film which you do not want. Just cut these sections out and tape together with masking tape. Let us know which reels have masking tape splices on them and we will replace each masking splice with a real cement splice. There is a charge for this service. It you want, just bring your film in. We can transfer it in random order or if the film is dated, we can transfer it in chronological order. If you like, you may number your reels or boxes. Yes. Usually before each reel or at the beginning of your tape. |

A Confusing Little Box Years ago, you would purchase regular 8mm film in 25 foot, double 8mm lengths. After they were processed, these reels were returned to you in their original boxes...as 50 foot reels. There are no 25 foot reels!. Films in Cartridges Some movie films are in self-contained cartridges. We CAN transfer these; however, you will be charged $3.00 for each reel submitted. Note: These reels will be broken open and discarded.
